World AUTISM Day, 2 April 2010

WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY 2010
The Association for Autism is pleased to announce that The United Nations has declared 2 April a special day reserved for the awareness and celebration of Autism Spectrum Disorders.
This year, World Autism Awareness Day falls on Good Friday (Easter) AND as a result, AFA will be holding their celebrations and awareness initiatives from 25 March 2010.
We are excited to share our plans for World Autism Awareness Day 2010 with beneficiaries, families and any members of the community who are interested or would like more information regarding Autism.
The following activities will be taking place:
1. Awareness:
AFA have printed awareness badges to be worn on the day - 2 designs are available, free of charge, to all interested members and beneficiaries.
2. Celebration:
AFA will be hosting a party for the senior Unica School learners (In Pretoria) on the morning of 25 March 2010. Games, gifts and party packs have been arranged for learners of the school.
3. Professional Development:
The Autism Spectrum Special Interest Group (ASSIG) for Professionals dealing with Autism will be convened in the afternoon of 25 March 2010. More information is available from the office.
4. Social:
The Autism Social Support Group will be meeting on 26 March 2010 and all parents and caregivers of individuals with Autism are encouraged to join- please contact the office for further details.
We invite all our supporters to contribute their part towards this important event on the world calendar - wear a badge, invite a professional to the ASSIG meeting, meet up with the Support Group, or simply keep your ears and eyes open for Autism information!
